Foot Drop & Leg Drag After Stroke: Exercises & Recovery

FOOT DROP

Hello Friend,

Foot drop is when the foot cannot lift properly during walking. It becomes difficult to lift the front part of the foot with each step. Foot drop is also known as dropped foot. Many stroke survivors also experience leg dragging and/or rotation of the leg, ankle, or foot while walking.

One of the most important things I want you to understand is that these challenges cannot be corrected by exercising only the foot and ankle. The knee must become stable as well. For the knee to become stable, the upper leg and hips must also become stable. In order for the hips to become stable, the core must be strong and posture must be improved.

In this newsletter, I've included my Foot Drop & Leg Drag Video Playlist. In these videos, I explain the anatomy, biomechanics, and muscle function involved, and demonstrate exercises to help improve stability, balance, and walking. You'll also learn why foot drop happens and how improving stability throughout the body supports safer, more efficient walking.

Watch the Foot Drop Video Playlist

In this playlist, you'll learn about:

• Foot drop exercises after stroke

• Walking and gait training

• Hips, Legs, Knees, and Ankle Stabilization

• Balance exercises and fall prevention

• Hyperextended knee correction

• Standing posture and weight shifting

In my book Stroke Recovery - Leg Stability and Walking Gait, I share knowledge, exercises, and anatomy illustrations to help you better understand leg stability and walking recovery.

My books, courses, and videos explain the anatomy, biomechanics, and muscle function involved while also demonstrating exercises that can be performed safely during training.
