Stroke Recovery | What Now?
Hello Friend,
One of the questions I see over and over from stroke survivors and caregivers is:
"What do I do when physical therapy ends?"
It's an important question because many people believe recovery stops when therapy stops. That simply isn't always true.
I hope this month's newsletter gives you encouragement, answers, and practical information you can use as you continue your recovery journey.
Although the brain can limit recovery, sometimes it is not the brain—it is the limited knowledge and experience of the professional that leaves a stroke survivor limited in recovery.
Many survivors believe their recovery has stopped because physical therapy ended due to insurance limitations or a therapist's decision. In reality, that is not always the case.
I teach as much as I know to help stroke survivors and caregivers understand what they need to continue recovery. The knowledge gained in this course can also help you recognize and find professionals with the education, training, and skills needed to help a survivor regain movement and rebuild life as much as possible.
Parts of this course include videos from my Stroke Recovery Specialist Course created for the fitness industry, along with educational material from my book:
Stroke Recovery: What Now? When Physical Therapy Ends, But Your Recovery Continues.
I created my courses and wrote my books to help fill this educational gap after becoming aware that many professionals in the fitness industry and physical therapy have not deepened their studies or attained advanced education in stroke recovery, neuroplasticity, muscle anatomy, movement science, functional biomechanics, and neuro education.
If you've heard me speak or have read any of my books, you've heard me say:
KNOWLEDGE IS POWER!
That statement applies to both survivors and professionals.
If a professional has limited knowledge, it can limit a stroke survivor's recovery.
This course is designed to help survivors better understand their own recovery, ask better questions, make informed decisions, and move forward with greater clarity, confidence, and safety.
Recovery does not end when physical therapy stops.
The brain does not heal on a schedule or in an organized order. Stroke recovery does not follow the timelines that insurance companies often use when deciding to end physical therapy.
Knowledge changes what is possible.
