How can I regain movement and sensation in my hands and fingers after a stroke?
This question is asked by stroke survivors around the world in support groups and through internet searches.
I wanted to share my newest video. Although each brain affected by a stroke will only heal as much as it is capable of, recovery progress is greatly shaped by the depth of knowledge of the professional guiding you.
The video says and shows it all, so there is no need to read much here.
Watch the video here to learn this simple but powerful tool and tip that may help answer the question: "How can I get my hand moving after a stroke?"
How Can I Get My Hand Moving After a Stroke? | Essential Tip | Exercise for Recovery
Knowledge is power!
I've seen more and more stroke survivors reaching out to fitness professionals for help in regaining movement in their arms, hands, and fingers. Traditionally, this was an area reserved for therapists. However, as many survivors discover, recovery progress is often influenced by the depth of knowledge of the professional guiding them.
Basic certifications do not require in-depth education in neurological recovery, stroke physiology, or the intricate anatomy involved in arm and hand movement. Advanced training, ongoing education, and a true passion for understanding the body can make a significant difference.
Knowledge matters — because knowledge shapes results.
If a professional does not fully understand the muscles involved in shoulder, arm, hand, and finger movement, how can they safely and effectively guide you toward your strongest recovery?
Why This Knowledge Matters
• When survivors and caregivers understand that many muscles, ligaments, tendons, and fascia are involved in moving the hands and finger joints, the exercises, therapy techniques, and tools needed for a stronger recovery begin to make more sense.
• It becomes easier to recognize whether a professional is truly equipped to help.
• Most importantly, you gain confidence in choosing exercises that support your unique recovery journey.
While there are times when the brain simply cannot regain certain movements, there are countless cases where progress happens because someone kept trying — even when it felt impossible.
You don't know your true potential unless you keep going.
Never give up.
