Hello Friend,
Many of you know that having limited or no movement in your arms, hands, and fingers after a stroke is an awful challenge. Although each brain affected by a stroke will heal only as much as it is capable of, recovery progress is greatly shaped by the depth of knowledge of the professional guiding you.
I wanted to share three videos that work together both biomechanically and neurologically to help those brains that can help regain everyday movements back to your body. You may have watched these videos on their own before. If so, I encourage you to watch them again as a package. This can help bring your physical therapy and recovery goals to a stronger outcome.
Watch the videos here to learn powerful but simple exercises and tips that help answer the question: "How can I get my arm and hand moving after a stroke?"
I always write and say, "Knowledge is power!"
If a professional or a stroke survivor does not fully understand the muscles involved in shoulder, arm, hand, and finger movement, how can the survivor be guided safely and effectively toward their strongest recovery?
You may have spasticity in muscles affecting your movements that you are not aware you have.
Why This Knowledge Matters
• When survivors and caregivers understand that many muscles, ligaments, tendons, and fascia are involved in moving the hands and finger joints, the exercises, therapy techniques, and tools needed for a stronger recovery begin to make more sense.
• It becomes easier to recognize whether a professional is truly equipped to help.
• Most importantly, you gain confidence in choosing exercises that support your unique recovery journey.
While there are times when the brain simply cannot regain certain movements, there are countless cases where progress happens because someone kept trying — even when it felt impossible.
You don't know your true potential unless you keep going.
Never give up!
